PULSaR

Multimedia Data Management

PULSaR is a data asset management tool for medical multimedia data. It works together with either NeBULA or NUCLeUS as a front-end, and couples to any HIS.

This fully fledged media asset management tool integrates NeBULA or NUCLeUS into your medical media workflows, with respect to creation, retrieval and maintenance.

Key features

  • Centralized media archive: Store all recorded media on a central place, together with details on patient, treatment, access rights, clinicians involved etc. The archive can reside on any physical storage, from a single entry-level file server to high-profile redundant disk arrays.
  • User-friendly access: Browse and search the media archive. Upload selected media to the PACS and/or download them to your computer. A web browser with internet access is all you need.
  • Tight integration within your EPR: Present a seamless view on the electronic patient record by interfacing it with the media archive using the included API.

Physical storage + metadata DB = NUCLeUS Media Archive

The heart of the NUCLeUS Multimedia Data Management system is a combination of physical storage (one or more file servers) and a database. The file server stores the media files, the database keeps the context information or meta data.

Accessing the archive with NUCLeUS Media Browser

The user interface is implemented as a web application compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Safari. It allows to consult the archive from any computer which has access to the hospital network.

Interfacing with the media archive

NUCLeUS Multimedia Data Management offers an XML based API which provides exactly the same functionality as NUCLeUS Media Browser.

The info pane (1), control pane (2) or patient listing (3) can all be disabled individually.

This allows to start the browser inline in another application. It only shows the file pane (4) and puts its content completely under software control.
